The Sauce – Original

  • 240 ml ketchup
  • 240 ml water
  • 120 ml cider vinegar, red wine vinegar or white vinegar
  • 80 ml Worcestershire sauce ( 4 tablespoons)
  • 3 tablespoons Yellow American mustard
  • 60 g butter
  • 170 g brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Franks Hot Sauce

 

Variations (Add to the original)

  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce – Hot and Sweet
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce + 1.5 teaspoons liquid smoke (added at the end) – Smoky and Sweet
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce + 1.5 teaspoons liquid smoke (added at the end) – Hot, Smoky and Sweet
  • 60 mls additional vinegar – Sweet and Tangy

 

SAUCE DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together ketchup, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, butter, brown sugar, hot pepper sauce, and salt; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer barbeque sauce for 1 hour.
