INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams peeled green prawns
OR - 500 grams of squid cleaned
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup corn flour
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon of seasoning spices (whatever you want, chilli, cumin, peri peri seasoning etc)
OR - 1 tablespoon of ground pepper
- oil for frying
- OPTIONAL: Zest of a lime into some whole egg mayo makes a great dipping sauce
DIRECTIONS
- combine the prawns and egg so they are coated.
- Sift flour, salt and spices together.
- heat oil in a pan, either for deep frying or shallow frying.
- add prawns to the flour mixture and fry until golden
- if doing in batches place them in the oven at around 170C to keep warm.
- Serve with lemon / lime juice or the lime mayo. Sweet chilli sauce also works.
