INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams peeled green prawns
    OR
  • 500 grams of squid cleaned
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon of seasoning spices (whatever you want, chilli, cumin, peri peri seasoning etc)
    OR
  • 1 tablespoon of ground pepper
  • oil for frying
  • OPTIONAL: Zest of a lime into some whole egg mayo makes a great dipping sauce

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. combine the prawns and egg so they are coated.
  2. Sift flour, salt and spices together.
  3. heat oil in a pan, either for deep frying or shallow frying.
  4. add prawns to the flour mixture and fry until golden
  5. if doing in batches place them in the oven at around 170C to keep warm.
  6. Serve with lemon / lime juice or the lime mayo. Sweet chilli sauce also works.
